Do you avidly follow the day’s national and international news and want to hear a fresh perspective on current affairs issues?
Are you considering training as a broadcast journalist within a Christian media organisation that cares about how news is reported?
United Christian Broadcasters wants to provide a 12-month training opportunity to an individual whose ambition is to become a journalist and work in a newsroom covering national and international news and current affairs.
Supported by a team of experienced Christian broadcast journalists and producers, you will study and learn on the job. This will include researching, writing for radio / online / social media, recording and editing radio interviews, applying media law and the Ofcom Broadcasting Code, and developing your presentation skills for news bulletins and broadcast reporting. You will be based full time at the UCB Broadcast Centre in Hanchurch, Stoke-on-Trent (Postcode ST4 8RY).
About You
You will need to be a committed Christian, with your own personal transport to get to/from the UCB Broadcast Centre, and you must live within reasonable commuting distance.

- have emailed hr@ucb.co.uk an MP3 audio recording of you pitching an original news idea appropriate for UCB News on UCB 1, UCB 2 or the UCB Player app (maximum duration 3 minutes)
- are a committed Christian who’s connected to a church
- can demonstrate genuine knowledge and understanding of news and current affairs
- are able to work Monday to Friday, with some weekend working as required (this will be made up of different shifts between the hours of 6am-6pm)
- are available for interview on the morning of Monday 24th June 2024 at the UCB Broadcast Centre

It is hoped that the successful candidate will be able to take up this role from around August or sooner, if possible. Starting salary £23,000 per annum (depending on experience) plus staff benefits.
