You will work with Tortoise’s data team to produce and publish data-driven and/or visual journalism projects.

In collaboration with the rest of the team, and reporting to the Senior Data Scientist, you will:

• Wrangle, extract and analyse a large number of different datasets relating to our research projects
• Refine and improve our data collection, analysis tools and general data practice
• Contribute to analysis of our data to extract key findings for editorial and commercial content

Essential knowledge, skills and experience:

• 2+ years experience working with Python
• Experience using specialised tools to collect data (e.g. web scraping and APIs)
• Experience working with large volumes of text data and natural language processing techniques
• Experience building robust data ingestion systems and pipelines in production
• Experience working with real world datasets of varying data quality and dealing with issues like missing or incorrect data points, inconsistent data structures
