That’s why The Shetland Times aims to be first with the news online, to be better than our competitors with community news and in-depth and analytical coverage in the print and digital edition of our weekly newspaper, and to engage with the community through our website and social media platforms.

The Shetland Times is not unique in this aspiration but we are unique in being the most northerly newspaper in the country, serving a small but enterprising and diverse population. We need an experienced journalist to lead our newsroom in the daily round of news reporting for our social media outlets and to ensure that the digital and print newspaper remains the default source of trusted news about our community.

If you have the energy, enthusiasm and the journalistic skills and experience to drive the news agenda, coupled with the people skills to inspire a team of locally-based reporters, you will find the job of editor both demanding and rewarding.

As part of the management team you will lead ongoing enhancements to our digital output while at all times maintaining the highest standards of journalism on our digital platforms and in the printed newspaper.
