GPFans is the fastest-growing sports news website in the United Kingdom and is a paddock-accredited publication which is becoming increasingly relevant in the very competitive F1 space. Our publication serves both the legacy F1 audience and the newer fans which have emerged following the Drive to Survive boom which the sport has benefitted from in recent years.
Our tightly-knit, passionate team is seeking an F1 news editor to push our coverage to be even more comprehensive and immersive for our loyal audience.
The Role
Role and Requirements:
- Curate a broad but authoritative content output that reflects GPFans’ standing as an accredited partner of F1, but one recognisable to new and emerging F1 audience
- Manage content team on shift and generate and select best ideas for content which will drive traffic
- Demonstrate understanding of various editorial techniques to package content to optimal standard
- Cover breaking news quickly and authoritatively, with due consideration of legal and ethical obligations
- Understanding of web/search analytics and traffic patterns and how both influence editorial decisions
- Demonstrate understanding of F1 and FIA rules and regulations and technical aspects of F1 cars
- Manage race operations on a race weekend and relevant workflow
- Understand names and topics or interest to F1’s emerging audience
- Contribute to production of written copy and assets which best sell articles from a digital perspective
- Liaise regularly with chief editor on development of content and digital ideas
- Work closely with other language editions on content production, collaborating and sharing ideas across our wider network
- Liaise with social media team on posting strategies across multiple social media platforms
Skills We Are Looking For:
- Strong level of written English and the ability to translate from other languages using tools
- Top-level knowledge of current F1 and the sport’s history
- Knowledge of digital journalism processes and newsgathering from a variety of sources
- Demonstrable application of ability to editorialise and follow up on news stories and leads as they emerge
- Understanding of the F1 paddock and politics of the sport
- Knowledge of content management systems and/or HTML publishing
- Other digitally-relevant skills such as photo and video editing, etc.
