The Center for Countering Digital Hate is a growing organisation with offices in Washington DC and London that actively counters the spread of digital hate, misinformation and harms to children. In recent years we have expanded rapidly, exposing the ways in which social media platforms amplify harmful content to boost their ad revenues.

We are looking for a Research Officer with experience of researching social media to join our growing and talented team. If you have a talent for investigating social media and want to develop your skills while helping to counter hate and lies online, we want to hear from you.

About The Role

In this role, you will have lots of opportunities to pitch ideas and develop new research, while supporting our team’s work on social media monitoring, reports and campaigns. You will also take responsibility for maintaining the well-organised datasets that underpin our work.

The successful candidate will be supported to develop their own skills and expertise on live topics in the field of digital hate and misinformation. You will join a team that invests in staff and will offer you opportunities to publish impactful research on issues that matter to us all.

About You

To do this job, you will need to show that you have experience of producing accurate and original research about social media trends. Experience of original research on our topics is not required, but you will need a strong understanding of digital hate and misinformation.

We are interested in candidates from a range of research backgrounds, whether it’s academia, journalism, social media marketing, politics or something else entirely. Above all you must be well-organised and accurate, with an ability to work collaboratively and communicate clearly with other members of your team.
