Applications are invited for the Daily Mail’s Stephen Lawrence scholarship which helps students from under-represented groups break into journalism.

The Mail has long supported the family of Stephen, who was murdered at 18 in 1993. The paper and the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust began the scholarship in 2015 to help promote diversity in journalism.

Nine young journalists have passed through the scheme so far. Most are now working on the Mail’s newsdesk, as news reporters or as sports and news sub-editors.

The successful candidates will be offered bespoke training programme according to their needs and experience. They will be on the best journalism course in the business, given a two-year contract and paid a competitive salary while they train.

If the training is successful they are offered staff jobs at the end.

If you are an aspiring journalist, with broad interests and a black, Asian or minority ethnic background, who would like to work for the country’s biggest national newspaper, we would like to hear from you.
