Declassified UK is seeking a talented video journalist to grow its reach on YouTube and other social media platforms.

  • Location: Home-based but with the ability to easily access London
  • Salary: £35,000 (for 4 day week)
  • Hours: 32 hours a week, Monday-Thursday (with occasional out of hours working)
  • Job type: 12-month fixed-term contract with possibility of renewal.

Key Responsibilities

Create videos for our social media platforms, from sourcing and shooting footage to editing and posting content.

This may involve: working with a reporter/presenter; filming interviews and pieces-to-camera; sourcing public domain footage; adding motion graphics, editing third-party content, designing video covers/thumbnails, and writing titles and associated copy.

Key skills needed

Minimum 3 years experience of video production for a media outlet, production company, social media channel, campaign group or equivalent.

Strong understanding of Declassified’s journalism and what makes engaging social media content; able to find and tell our stories through video.

Able to edit quickly and efficiently on Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or equivalent, creating content in horizontal and vertical formats.

Experience of shooting and directing videos. Able to pre-record interviews online, produce livestreams and source footage from live events e.g. parliamentary proceedings.

Strong understanding of YouTube’s copyright and monetisation policies, able to write strong titles and designing eye-catching thumbnails for YouTube.

Must be able to demonstrate sound journalistic practice, such as balance, careful sourcing and a solid, practical understanding of media law.

Desirable: Graphic design experience.
