I’m the kind of person who’s known for always carrying at least two magazines around with them at any one time. There’s something tactile and ‘real’ about them; it’s in the shine of the paper and the smell of the ink, and that slight ‘vrrrup’ sound they make as you speed skim through them.
It’s part of the reason we launched our print magazine back in 2021; to give journalists a chance for pause in a hectic world — and we’re delighted to announce pre-orders are now open for our fourth edition.
The Yearbook, which will touch down on doormats in early 2025 is your guide to a journalism and media career over the coming year. Part workbook, part glossy magazine it’s packed with new and exclusive exercises to reflect, recharge, and set goals, as well as thought-provoking features on everything from navigating grief as a journalist to the pathway from prison to journalism.
This year, there are three ways to get a copy and every penny goes back to supporting our work to help journalists at all stages of their careers:
1️⃣ You can buy a one-off copy here, costing just £12.50
2️⃣ You will get a free copy with any six-month membership taken out here – which also includes free access to 120 workshops and masterclasses, job alerts, transcription, and more.
3️⃣ This year we’re also offering four exclusive collectors-edition bundles to those who wish to become a patron of the fellowship. You can find out more here.
Once again, this year’s magazine will feature a beautiful custom illustration from Thea de Gallier and will be a glossy, ring-bound workbook that can stay with you all year long.
This year’s theme will be ‘analogue’ — not because we don’t think there aren’t benefits and important conversations to be had around genAI, but because, once in a while, we all need a breather from endless headlines and event agendas to smell the ink of a good paper magazine.

Not only does your purchase of the magazine directly support our work at a time of the year when job adverts and sponsorships are low, it also directly funds our fellowship.
To date, we’ve helped more than 40 people of all ages take their first step into journalism careers, delivering more than 200 hours of mentoring and paying out almost £8,000 in paid commissions.
One-in-nine of our fellows now work full-time in the media, while all agree that they’ve gained confidence as a result of the scheme. You can see more of their work here, and across publications including the BBC, The Financial Times, Time Out, Newsquest, Positive News, and many more.
Your purchase of a magazine directly helps us to help even more people.
